Hello y’all,
This is another travel guide to pin and save for later if you plan on booking a ski trip in the future. The kids have been wanting to plan a Colorado ski vacation in December, and we finally were able to do it. I chose Breckenridge based off the top ski cities and best reviews. This was all last minute planning, and I was able to book everything in the beginning of December with two weeks to research what to do, where to eat, and what to pack. I also chose Breckenridge, Colorado, because the downtown is so charming and sweet especially during the Holiday Season. And y’all, it did not disappoint. It was magical.

Transportation to Breckenridge:
After researching, the easiest way to get to Breckenridge is by booking your flight into the Denver, Colorado. From the airport, there is two easy options to get to Breckenridge.
- Renting a car ` ~ it is a 2-hour drive which totally depends on the traffic at the time of the day. We opted out of this due to the icy roads {we are not use to driving in the snow since we are from the south.} and due to the fact that our lodge had shuttles to everything that we were planning on doing.
- Taking a shuttle ~ there are so many options of shuttle services that will pick you up and take you to Breckenridge. I shopped around to find the best prices, but they are all very similar. I compared renting a vehicle for 6 with the shuttle cost, and we did save $500 plus gas cost by going with the shuttle. If you want to book Peak 1 Express like we did, click here!! Book your shuttle as soon as you can to Breckenridge and back to the airport.

Where to stay:
I honestly cannot brag enough about our stay at Grand Timber Lodge. It it is a ski-in, ski-out resort! The staff was exceptional, loved the location, and it was very affordable and cozy. We booked a two bedroom that slept 8 people. It was amazing and very spacious! It had a full kitchen, dining room, living room, bedrooms with king size beds, jacuzzi tub, two showers, and a balcony with a beautiful view!!!!!!
It’s located right at the base of Peak 9. The Snowflake ski lift is located feet away from our room, and the Breck ski hub for skiing and snowboarding was a 5 minute walk from our lodging. We loved that the downtown was less than 1/2 mile away which made it very convenient. It was very cold on day 2 and 3 so we took the free, lodge shuttle that takes you anywhere in town. These run every 5~10 minutes, and when you are ready to be picked up, they have a phone number to call to set it up. We never waited longer than 10 minutes.
Grand Timber Lodge also has a beautiful swimming pool and large hot tubs with a stunning view of the snowcapped trees!!! They do have a restaurant on the grounds, but it is only open for dinner. They book up quick so I highly suggest to get there when it opens. If you’re traveling with a larger group, they have bigger condos too. The two bedroom was perfect for our family.

Skiing + snow boarding in Breckenridge:
If you enjoy skiing, you won’t regret choosing Breck!!! The boys and Mike absolutely loved it. Before we arrived, we did book our ski lessons and lift tickets online. We did purchase all ski clothes from Amazon too.
Where to rent skis + snowboards~
There are so many places to rent your equipment while skiing in Breck. We chose to rent from the main hub located right by our ski lessons. They made it super easy and picked out our ski gear based on our size and experience. They do have rental companies who will deliver to your lodge. If you know exactly what you need, that is an easier way to get the equipment. Just click here for rental locations.
Where to purchase lift tickets~
I highly recommend booking them online in advance. You will have to pick them up at the Gondola. Just click here to purchase your lift tickets online.
.
Where to book ski lessons~
I highly recommend taking ski lessons if you are new at skiing or if it has been a while since you have skied. Breckenridge offers group lessons and privates for children and adults. We opted for the group since we had 6 of us. It was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed both instructors and learned so much. Just click here to book your ski lessons and instructors.

What to do besides skiing:
I’m not someone who wants to for four straight days. And, I loved that Breckinridge offers something for everyone. We were really wanting to go snowmobiling, but we ran out of time.
Shop downtown~ Breckenridge has such a charming downtown filled with boutiques, clothing stores, home decor, restaurants, desserts, and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed just walking up and down Main Street and sipping on hot chocolate from Crepes a la Cart.
Sleigh Rides~ This was top on my list. We booked the scenic sleigh ride with Breck Stables that was about a 15 minute Uber ride from our lodge. You can either take a classic sleigh ride on Peak 9 or take the scenic route with dinner and a sleigh ride combined! Learn more here!!!!
Ice Skating~ They have multiple ice skating rinks to choose from in Breck. We chose the indoor rink since it was snowing. Click here for more details.
Breck Troll~ This is a short walk + is so worth it. Click here for directions.
Snowmobiling~ This will be the first thing that we book when we head back to Colorado. Everyone raves about their adventures. Click here to book snowmobiling!!!
Snow Tubing~ So, the closest tubing is in Frisco. My daughter did this with her boyfriend and said that it was a blast. Click here to book your tubing experience!!!!
