So, I’m a Bachelor, Bachelorette fan {yes, the tv show}. It’s definitely inappropriate at times {don’t judge}, but I LOVE the possibility of a fairytale ending with finding true love. After watching Kaitlyn’s wild season, I loved that she found that true love, BUT it was also extremely sad to watch deep heartbreak.
I don’t know if you have ever felt that type of pain of losing a sweetheart or losing a dear friend or actually losing a family member. No one can quite explain the depth of darkness that overtakes the mind, heart and even the body. It’s like you have no control over the thoughts, the aching, the tears, the loss of future memories.
“Pain has a way of clipping our wings and keeping us from being able to fly.”
~Paul Young, The Shack
After losing my older sister, I know the depths of that heartache {I know that I only felt a smidgen compared to her children and my parents, but I did feel the loss}. Losing someone that you love leaves an array of brutal affliction and horror that seems will never fade.
“When my heart is overwhelmed and fainting, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.”
~Psalm 61:2
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
~ ~Psalm 147:3
For YEARS, I’ve heard teachings on when we face assaults on our heart or mind that we can become bitter or better. Well, it is true, BUT it takes a huge amount of grace to allow God to use the death of a relationship or the death of a friendship or the death of loved one to make you better.
“I suppose that since most of our hurts come through relationships so will our healing.”
~Paul Young, The Shack
In the end, God will hear your cry and my cry for help and come to our rescue. I have witnessed it time and time again. He will not tie our soul to a dead end dream {quote by Lou Engle}.
Speaking of dreams, my sister and I would often talk about our future shop that we would open filled with our very own creations. In memory of her, I’m reopening my Etsy shop in August filled with a variety of handmade items. She inspired me, and now, our dream will continue to live. I have one of my pieces pictured with this FABULOUS off the shoulder dress, and I’m rockin’ my favorite BOOTIES.
