The The countdown to Christmas….
Ahh, I shared on Instagram last week a bit of this revelation. It continued today when my four year old threw a complete tantrum for the gift that I bought a little boy who is raised in a single parent home.
My son, Abram, doesn’t even have an exact wishlist. He just wants EVERYTHING. He proceeded to tell me that this toy set was on his list. Ha.
It was a funny moment for me because I have moments too where I don’t want something until I see a friend ROCKING it… that perfect party dress, that sweater, that blanket scarf, that Starbuck’s mug or tumbler, that MAC lipstick or that fur ball keychain thingy {HA}. I giggled at myself the other day when my sister in law sent me a selfie of her new extensions. They looked FABULOUS. I would have never dreamed of wanting extensions again {I had a bad experience with real weaved extensions.. miserable}. But, for a moment, I said to my self “I want some!!”. We are crayyyy or maybe, just I am. By the way, I didn’t get the extensions.
I shared this chorus from a cutesy song:
“Just wishin’ and hopin’ and thinkin’ and prayin, plannin’ and dreamin’…”
It’s amazing how we are all {not just the kids} wishin’ and hopin’ and thinkin’ for something ALWAYS.
We are prayin’ and plannin’ and dreamin’. Those feelings of wanting and needing and dreaming are constantly knocking which isn’t always bad.
But, at times, I hear a small voice saying “Be still mind… Be still heart.”.
I believe the Spirit of God is knocking on my mind and my heart since there is a wild ruckus of wishing, planning and dreaming distracting me from life. It ends up being a beautiful moment when we start to model what the Father is whispering. What He has modeled and models to us time and time again:“It is far better to give than to receive.” I am just a hopin’ and prayin’ that I choose to respond to the small voice.
“our greatness is not what we have; it’s what we give.”
The Christmas season is about GIVING. We are celebrating the greatest gift of all: the son of God.
Celebrate the season with me by giving of your time, your praises, your money, your thoughts. Let’s model the life of the Father to our family and friends and community. Let’s don’t just be takers.
