“There isn’t a person you wouldn’t love if you could read their story.”
~Unknown
So, I was jogging in my neighborhood grossed out by the dead, shriveled worms that were crunching under my shoes as I made each step. I was intrigued to find out why these weird, slimy creatures would want to leave the confound of their cozy, dirt home when they can’t breath properly outside of the moisture of their burrows. {“It’s true worms don’t have lungs. They breathe via gas diffusion through special organs in their skin. It’s also true their skin must be moist in order for this to work, same as with the air sacs in our lungs.”} So, why do they come to the surface? They come out of the ground to find each other and to lie side by side because they simply want to mate.
What?!? My thoughts towards these weird, slimy creatures completely changed. I read their story, and my heart stirred with sweet affections towards them and their struggle. I know that sounds weird, BUT it totally connected to what I remind my kids, my husband and myself regarding difficult people in our lives… we don’t know what sort of life that they have had to endure or still have to endure. I want to see the beauty in others despite how they may act, react or treat others {even if they are weird, slimy, crunchy- LOL}. If we could just understand their struggles, their hurt, wouldn’t we be more compassionate?
One of my favorites:
Matthew 7:1-5
“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults-unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part.”
Love isn’t a state of perfect caring; To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.”
–Fred Rogers
I chose this outfit with this topic because in most of the pictures I have a shoe untied. It is another reminder that it’s so easy to focus on that one negative, flaw than to see all of the other positive things going on in life or that person. May God guide us to seek out their heart, their story.. to see the beauty and love genuinely, regardless.
So, if you are in love with buffalo plaid as much as I am, you might need to add this blue plaid to your closet. I’m loving this olive jacket too.

Agreed with Michele! Love the mixing of colors and how vibrant they are. I am a HUGE believer of motivational quotes and when i started my blog i really wanted the quotes to be a huge part of it. I'm still trying to find the best way to incorporate it into the blog- maybe create a widget board of just quotes. Happy Friday <3 Donna
