Next on the agenda was three nights in Rome. I feel like this city is filled with so much history and character. It’s busy and chaotic, but it is truly filled with cozy alleys, unbelievable architecture and hidden gems that make you feel like you are stepping back in time. Rome’s old cobblestone roads (that are 2,775+ years old) whisper stories of the past.
No matter how crowded that it gets or how many bad pizzas there are vs good ones, Rome is still so exciting to visit. I’ve listed below our itinerary along with our lodging info, tours and favorite restaurants.

DAY 1:
DAY 2:
Next up was a visit to the Colosseum. The girls chose not to do the tour. But, we enjoyed taking in the vastness of this historical spot. It is completely fascinating. I did do the tour last time that I visited Rome in 2018. It is very neat. Buy tickets ahead of time, here.

DAY 3:
Next up was something that I added to our schedule last minute. It was a golf cart tour of the Catacombs with Wheel Tours. We really enjoyed this tour way more than I expected. We spent three hours avoiding Rome’s heavy traffic, and we were able to explore another side of city. We saw top attractions including the Colosseum, Appian Way, and Circus Maximus. But, the highlight was a 45-minute tour of the Catacombs of Saint Callixtus with a Vatican guide. It was fascinating. Wheel Tours does provide other golf cart tours of the city. We highly recommend adding this to the list.

Lastly, we visited the Vatican ~ it is part of Rome’s heritage, and it is filled with beautiful art and astounding history. If you are wanting to explore everything throughout the Vatican, I suggest to start early to beat the crowds and pay extra to skip the line. We only had enough time to visit St. Peter’s Basilica which was breathtaking. Also, climb to the top of the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica for an epic view!

Add the Pantheon to your list. It’s the only ancient Roman temple that is still intact.
We ended our day by visiting the largest Zara that I’ve ever witnessed, and we ate dinner at the loveliest restaurant called Deroma.
