Happy Friday my friends!! Can you believe that it is that time again to make plans for New Year’s Eve?!!! I personally love an excuse to get all fancy. Some people rather chill out in their pj’s. My husband is that person for sure. Well, I already picked out my dress so we must be going out to celebrate (hint, hint). Before I share the dresses that I found for under $50, I need to take a moment to reflect on 2017. I seriously can’t believe that 2017 is already coming to an end. But, I do have to say that it has been a fabulous, character-stretching year. This will be post 1 on reflection. And, post 2 will be next week, and I will include the monthly highlights of 2017.
WHERE DO I BEGIN…
I recently had someone ask me, “What are your dreams or goals for your life, the future, and blogging?”. This question triggered something inside of me, and I began to reflect a lot on life this past year. Y’all, I am not a planner or a goal setter. But, dreaming is a skill that I do posses. And, my one, realistic dream (besides being a wife, mom, and kind hearted person who reflects Jesus) has always been to be a boutique owner. I do have other small, non-realistic dreams too (that darn Range Rover)!! HA!!
Well, it dawned on me. God went above and beyond that realistic dream and decided to blow my mind. He pushed me out of my comfort zone and has connected me to boutique owners, clothing brands, beauty brands and other small businesses without the pressure of owning my own storefront. Which lets be real, my personality does so much better without the pressure. Y’all, I am doing my dream job while being able to share my faith and family (and fashion) with thousands of amazing, supportive, inspiring followers.
We all have hidden talent, and we were all created to do great things. My mind is seriously blown that my talent within my brand (Dashing Darlin’) has generated a great income for our family. Who would have known?!!!! But, even though I love what has blossomed, my blog doesn’t define me or make me feel more important. My encouragement to others would be that we have to get to the place in our life where we don’t seek to be noticed, seek to be praised, or begin to find our purpose and identity in those talents. Do y’all get what I’m saying??
My reflection this year included the thought “Would I be okay if my platform was ripped away, my status or title diminished, and doors begin to shut??” My honest answer is YES!! His dreams are my dreams. He wrote my story.. not me. If He decides to change the scenery and the setting, I will follow His lead. He has my YES. My identity is wrapped up in Him not my title. So, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for following along with me and for being apart of this dream come true. Jesus really outdid Himself. It’s been a beautiful ride thus far. Okay, okay, I’m moving on to dresses under $50!!
“UNSHAKABLE CONFIDENCE IS NOT BUILT ON SOMEONE, SOMETHING OR SOMEPLACE, BUT ON AN UNSHAKABLE GOD.”
DRESSES UNDER $30
For special occasions, I have to decide if it is worth it to splurge. For New Year’s Eve, I usually stick with the more budget friendly option. I normally wear my fancier dresses two to three times max. I fell in love with this darling dress mainly because I love the color and the fabric. Can you believe that my dress (here) for only $11???? Insane!!! I am wearing a size medium. It runs TTS for this brand. I included some other very pretty options for under $30.
DRESSES UNDER $50
These are a few more dresses that I have had my eye on for quite some time. I adore this one and this one, and of course, they are velvet. My friend, Ruthie Ridley, also shared NYE dresses for under $50. Check out her post: here.
Well, reflection post 1 is complete. Hope that you stick around for reflection post 2. If I don’t blog again until after Christmas, I want to wish you the happiest and merriest Christmas!! May you enjoy your family and enjoy celebrating the birth of our Savior!!
