After hurricane Ida, our back patio and yard was looking rough. It was perfect timing to give it a makeover. I have been wanting to add tile to the cement slab under our pergola. But when I priced the tile that would work for outside and our weather, it was around $4k without being installed. That was not part of the budget. So, I decided to research painting and stenciling the two cement slabs. And y’all, it only cost around $400 for all of the supplies!!!!
I’ll add links to each of the items that I purchased. I purchased the supplies online at Home Depot, and I just got them delivered to my house since some of those items were not available at our local Home Depot. By the way, this paint brush (linked here) is the only one that actually worked after attempting many other suggested ones and a suggested stencil roller too. I bought two of them!!

How to:
Step 1 was to prep the cement for the white paint. We pressure washed it and put one coat of a cement primer. Mike applied it to the cement with a roller. I bought 2 gallons of primer.
Step 2 was to add one coat of the white paint that is specifically designed for cement. We waited 24 hours and added a second coat. I bought 3 gallons of white paint.
Step 3 was to stencil the design with whatever paint color that you like best. I chose black. It is specifically designed for cement too. I bought 1 gallon of black paint.
Step 4 is to add a seal which will protect it from being worn off as quickly. We only added one coat, but we waited 24 hours before adding the seal. Mike applied it to the cement with a roller. I bought 2 gallons of the sealer. We will add another coat in 6 months.

Finishing touches:
For the patio table and chairs, I found those items on Amazon along with the light fixture. I LOVE it all, and I’m so pleased with the quality. The new plant pots are mostly from Target. I love them all too. They have such a great selection.

The last few things that we added was the cement pavers leading up to the fire pit, the pebble rocks, the striped umbrella, and the plants in the planters.

We absolutely love the way it all turned out. I do want to add some solar string lights above the fire pit area. But, I still love it without.
